Gary R. Bush

Gary R. Bush, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away, Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland, St. Joseph. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. Gary was born May 15, 1939 in South Haven to Cecil & Martha (Rorick) Bush. He attended St. Joseph Public Schools. Gary served many years on the Benton Harbor City Fire Department. On April 26, 1986, he married the former Patricia Meachum in St. Joseph. In 1992, Gary gained employment with Lakeview Terrace in St. Joseph, where he retired as maintenance supervisor in 2003. Gary enjoyed tinkering with and repairing things, using his vast array of tools to do so. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, but most of all, the time spent with his family, especially his grand & great-grandchildren. Gary is survived by his children-Bunni (Kevin) Wheeler of St. Joseph, Denise Nieman of Pembroke Pines, FL, John (Shannon) Wasily & Anna Wasily, both of Huron, OH; seven grandchildren-Brittany (Michael) Banic, Chelsea Fouts, Andy Wheeler, Tiffany Nieman, Robbie Nieman, Devon Wasily, Austin Wasily & Emily Myers; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his wife Patricia on June 6, 2019, three brothers-Richard, Ronnie & Cecil Bush, and his canine companion “Killer”.
