Portus Weare Webster, II, 71, of Stevensville, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 in Grand Rapids. The family will receive guests from 5-7pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph. A private burial will take place at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Portus was born June 26, 1949 in Benton Harbor, to Weare and Betty (Sliter) Webster. He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1968 and joined the Air Force where he served from 1970-1974. He met and married Nancy (Long) Webster, and they shared almost 42 years together before her passing in 2012. Portus was a proud member of the Stevensville American Legion and the general manager of the legion’s baseball team for many years. He also was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Portus enjoyed being outside, especially in his garden. He also loved cars, any and all hot rods, as well as NASCAR, fishing and golf. Portus is survived by his children, Peter (Katie) Webster, and Joshua (Coral) Webster; his grandchildren, Riley Webster, Charity Ramsby, Celesta Webster, Kendriece, Christopher, Jacob, Gabriel, P.J., and Arianna Webster, Charlie Thurmond and Troy Moline; and his sister, Giannina Holmes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; and his parents.
