Kathern Marie “Kathy” Piraino, 74, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Spectrum Health Lakeland. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 7, at 11 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, 600 Columbus Ave., Benton Harbor with Father James Adams officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lakeshore Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 6 from 5 PM until 7 PM, with a prayer service being held at 7 PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to Misericordia Heart of Mercy, 6300 N. Ridge Ave, Chicago, IL 60660. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Kathy was born on March 25, 1947 in Batesville, AK, to JW & Marie (Ingram) Jones. In 1966, she graduated from St. Joseph High School. After working at the Telephone Co., Kathy began her career at Whirlpool Corporation working in the mailroom. She worked her way up to Marketing Director of Value Brands before she retired in 2002. Kathy was an accomplished golfer earning the title of being a two-time Woman’s Club Champion at The Point O’ Woods Country Club as well as being the assistant woman’s golf coach at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, IL. Kathy had many achievements she could reflect on, however her proudest was being a wonderful mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. For the last 30 years, Kathy was married to Michael (who absolutely thought she hung the moon). Kathy was loved by so many people who will miss her dearly. Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Thad Blythe, Amy Lucas and Michael C. Piraino; grandchildren, Nicholas & Karina Piraino and Morgan, Baily, & Hannah Lucas; great-grandchildren, Ezra and Elanor Buck; and siblings, Pat Cockrell and Jerry Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, JW and Marie and sister, Dar Angelo.
