Annette's Obituary
Annette Marie Rahrig, 53, of South Haven, passed away at her home on October 6, 2012 after a year long battle with colon cancer. She was born on December 3, 1958 to Frank and Margaret (Demarse) Gawron in Muskegon. Annette graduated from Fruitport High School in 1977. She married Steven Rahrig on Dec. 3, 1977 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Muskegon. Annette was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church of Douglas. Annette was a religious education teacher at St. Peter’s. Annette was an active member of the Right to Life. She co-chaired the Miss South Haven Queen Committee for several years and was also an active member of the South Haven community. She worked at Tiny Tots, D&W, the Rose Shop, and for the last 12 years as a funeral director’s assistant at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home managing the office. Annette was very committed to her family.
Annette is survived by her husband – Steven Rahrig; her children – Regina (Jason) Centers of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cynthia (Justin) Kolberg of East Lansing, Luke (Jeni) Rahrig of South Bend, Indiana, and Kathleen (Jake) McGee of South Haven. Her parents – Frank and Margaret Gawron of Muskegon. 3 brothers – Greg Gawron of Louisville, Kentucky, Paul (Jackie) Gawron of Southport, North Carolina, and Mike (Debbie) Gawron of North Muskegon. 4 sisters – Colleen Harpe of Dallas, TX, Bernadette Gawron of Jacksonville, Florida, Deborah (Kirk) Grimshaw of Montague, Michigan, and Karen (Bill) Larson of North Muskegon. 6 grand children – Vanessa, Rebecca, Anna, Melissa, Jack, and Emma. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will take place Thursday, October 11th from 2-7 pm at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. The Rosary will take place at 7 pm during the visitation. Funeral services will be Friday, October 12 at 11:00 am at St. Peters Catholic Church with Rev. Father Tim Cuny O.S.A. officiating. Annette will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Annette’s memory to the Right to Life of Holland, Michigan – 100 S.
