George Bartholomew

George Bartholomew, age 83, of South Haven died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home. He was born November 10, 1928 in Leetsville, MI the son of Homer and Gladys (Dorman) Bartholomew. George moved to the Lacota area as a teen and at 17 he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sargent. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he met and married the late Dorothy Allen on July 19th, 1952. George worked as a a foreman for General Electric in Holland, MI for 34 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Post Commander three times, and was a longtime member of the Honor Guard. George was an avid county hunter on Ham Radio, his call sign was WB8WXE.

George is survived by his three children, Bill (Wendy) Bartholomew, Alice Noskey, and David (Doreen) Bartholomew; seven grandchildren - Michael Bartholomew, Jobina Hathcock, Amy (Jeremy) Davis, Dallas (Danielle) Bartholomew, Stacey (Brandon) Krueger, Wade (Amanda) Bartholomew, and Cameron Bartholomew. He also has eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on October 22, 2006, his parents, three brothers, Dale, John and Elmer and his sister, Opal Outman.

Visitation will be Tuesday July 24th, 2012 from 4-6pm at the Filbrandt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 25th at 2pm at the Filbrandt Funeral Home, with Reverend John Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Chambers Cemetery with a luncheon following at the American Legion. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to South Haven Hospice at Home
