Donald's Obituary
Donald Charles Youngblood, 80, of Covert died at his home on Monday, May 21, 2012. He was born to Earl and Beulah Disbrow on December 11, 1931 in Coloma, Michigan, and later took his stepfathers name Youngblood. He went to school in Lacota and later South Haven. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married Roxine “Darla” on July 19, 1978. He was the owner, operator of Don’s Marathon Station in Covert and later worked for and retired from the city of South Haven. He also spent several years actively involved with the Covert Fire Dept. Don loved to “tinker” and to do woodworking projects. He also liked to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandkids. Don was always there to help his friends and those in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Don is survived by his wife – Roxine “Darla” Youngblood. His two sons – Bob (Joann) Kelnhofer of Lawrence, and Dennis Kelnhofer of Windham, Maine. Three daughters – Pamela Youngblood of Emmett, Idaho, Julie Romeo of Edwardsburg, and Karen Osborne of Watervliet. A sister – Wanda (Gene) Ray of Bartow, Florida. Eleven grand children and four great grand children also survive.
Visitation will take place at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven on Tuesday, May 29, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 5:00 PM with Rev. Harold Filbrandt officiating.
