Rudolph's Obituary

Rudolph James Nance was born October 14, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Mr. Edward Nance Sr. and Mrs. Jettie (Barkhead) Nance. He was the forth sibling of 10. Rudolph “Rudy” Departed this life after a brief illness on December 4, 2011 at 6:54 p.m. at Royalton Manor Facility in St. Joseph, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward Sr. and mother Jettie; wife Emma Mae (Denson) Nance of 62 years, three brothers; George (Deliah) Nance Sr; Merritt Sam (Annette) Nance Sr. and Bernard (Barbara) Nance; two sisters; Julie O’Niece Smith, and Lucille (Jessie) Hunter. There were no biological children but he honored one as his daughter; Dr. Dolly Nance Crenshaw.

Rudy leaves to cherish his wonderful memories – two brothers; Edward (Tina) Nance Jr. and Donald (Barbara Nance Sr., two sisters – Wilhelmina (Freddie) Bryant and Dolly (James) Crenshaw and two special great grand nephews Isaiah and Daniel Wilson of which the night before his demise the call that two him, held their hands and gave future instructions. This was his farewell to them. He was a license electrician and an auction goer, buying antiques. He was baptized in Jesus Matchless name at Greater Faith Apostolic Church under the leadership of Pastor District Elder Joe L. Cunningham and Evangelist Augusta Cunningham of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., 1995 E. Britain Ave., Benton harbor, Michigan.

Services will be held, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 12:00p.m. at his home church, Greater Faith Apostolic Church, 1995 E Britain Avenue, Benton Harbor, Michigan Pastor Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Rudy will be greatly missed by a host of relatives, friends and his buddies – Joe Evans Sr., Woody James, and Loris Jackson. His favorite song, he sang all day was, “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine.” He expressed heartfelt thanks to his nephew Leonard for sticking by him at the VA hospital of Battle Creek. Uncle Rudy will be greatly missed also for his smile, great sense of humor and wisdom.
