Earnest's Obituary
Earnest Phillips Jr., 65, of South Haven died Thursday, February 17 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
He was born July 30, 1945 in Fralie, Missouri to Earnest and Luecety (Black) Phillips Sr. Earnest worked for many years as a welder at Bohn Aluminum. Earnest enjoyed riding his bicycle He also enjoyed wood working when he was able.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his sisters – Elwanda Hendricks, Audrey Faye II, Lowella, Audrey Fay and Betty Gay. Also by a brother, Larry Phillips.
He is survived by two sons – Tracy (Johnnie) Phillips of South Haven, Michigan and Glen Phillips of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Five grandchildren – Shelby, Samantha, Ashley, Nickolas and Tyler. Six sisters – Mildred Brock of Spring Lake, Michigan, Velma (Alfred) Blair of Grand Junction, Michigan, Lula (William) Montgomery of South Haven, Michigan, Betty Ellis of Bloomingdale, Joyce Covey and Barbara Ellis both of South Haven, Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 4 pm at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 21, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Montgomery officiating,. Burial will take place at Grand Junction Cemetery, Columbia Township. Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Association of West Michigan, 260 Jefferson SE Suite 210, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
