Birdell LaVaunne's Obituary

Birdell LaVaunne Follman, age 83, of 254 David Street Coloma, Mi., passed away on Saturday, October 9th, 2010 at her home with her family by her side. She was taken care of with great love by her children during her recent illness and until her death.

Birdell was born November 21st, 1926 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Birdell was the daughter of Gertrude and Monroe Twite. On April 6
th, 1951 she was united in marriage Kenneth W. Follman in South Bend Indiana. They were married for 48 years until Kenneth preceded her in death on October 9th, 1999.

Birdell was a life long resident of Coloma and a member of the Coloma Salem Lutheran Church. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Sister and Grandmother. She was loved deeply by her extended family. Birdell always welcomed her nieces, nephews and other family members with open arms into her home. She made a positive difference in all of their lives by her love and hospitality.

Birdell loved and cherished each one of her Grandchildren and Great-Grand Children. She was recently thrilled when Savannah said “Grandma” rather than her usual “Ga Ga.”

Birdell is survived by her children: Steve (Lisa) Follman of Covert, Mi; Michael Follman of Benton Harbor, Mi; Randy (Renee) Follman of Coloma, Mi. Grandchildren: Jason (Kara) Follman of Highland, Mi; Ryan (Jessica) Follman of Holland, Mi; Ashleigh Follman of Chicago, Illinois; Matt Follman of Colorado; Molly Blaney of Covert, Mi.; Savannah Follman, Tyler Follman and Brandon Follman all of Coloma and 5 Great-Grandchildren; Evan, Drew, Luke, Rocco and Grant Follman.

Birdell is further survived by her sisters, Beverly (Fred) Barribeau of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; Bonnie Sheppard of Maryland; Brother Arlen (Judy) Twite of La Crescent, Minnesota; Brother and sister-in-law: Ralph and Rose Follman of St. Joseph, Mi as well as many nieces, nephews, other relative and many friends.

In addition to her husband Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter-in-law Susan Follman.

Birdell worked for many years at Saluto Foods. She enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques, crocheting beautiful colonial rugs and watching her beloved Packers! She enjoyed cooking; especially her wonderful Lefsa, baking, spending time with her children, grandchildren and her animals.

Memorial services for Birdell will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery(269) 731-4164 which is located at 15501 M-96 in Augusta, MI., 49012 on Monday, October 18th, 2010 with assembly at 10:45am and Services at the Pavilion at 11:00 am. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Birdell will be laid to rest next to her husband Ken.
