Ruth Forrest

Ruth Marie Forrest, 73 of South Haven died on April 10, 2010 at home. Ruth was born on May 18, 1936 in Niles, Michigan to Eric and Mae (Runyon) Heide. Ruth worked at several of the local factories including Everett Piano, Overton’s and DuWell. Ruth later had been self-employed as a housekeeper. She loved gardening, quilting and bird watching. Ruth was an avid map reader and enjoyed reading the Atlas. She also enjoyed watching the Weather Channel. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Haven.

She is preceded in death by her parents, step father-Ernest Vanderboegh, her husband- Norvel Forrest in 1995 and one sister; Louise Crockwell.

Ruth is survived by her four daughters; Dorothy Jean Forrest of Robertsdale, Alabama, Sue Ann (David) Bange of Pullman, Michigan, Antonia Portillo of South Haven, Michigan and Judy Marie (Charles) Vigansky of Grand Junction, Michigan, and two sons; Norman Earl (Vicky) Forrest of Covert, Michigan and John Gordon ( Marion) Forrest of South Haven, Michigan. One sister; Maxine Hunter of Boone, Iowa and one brother; Ronald (Pat) Heide of Niles, Michigan. Thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grand children and one great grandchild (forth coming) also survive.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 13 from 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 14 at 11:00 AM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Koller, Pastor Eric Jarvis and Pastor Phillip Haner officiating. Burial will take place at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Haven’s Hospice at Home or to the Forrest Family.
