Betty Ann's Obituary
Betty Ann (Hollins) Miller, 71, died January 2, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois.
She was born June 26, 1938 in South Haven, Michigan to Harvey Sr. and Gladys (Mickey) Hollins. While a resident of South Haven, Betty was Baptized at Covert Community Church and graduated from South Haven High School in 1957. After high school she went on to attend Business College, and was later hired by Mr. Johnson as a writer and secretary at Johnson Publishing’s Ebony Magazine in Chicago. She later went to work as a sales representative at LEVER brothers of New York in Chicago, and eventually left there to serve with the Rev. Jesse Jackson on such projects as Operations PUSH and other Civil Rights Movement efforts. Betty loved her life and her friends in Chicago.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Hollis Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Gladys (Wilmon) Bennett of Covert; her long-time dear friend Bobby Holder of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Harvey (June) Hollins Jr. of South Bend, Indiana; her children, Dorothy (John) Cooper of San Bernadino, Calfornia, and their children, Danial, Aaron, and Jeremy; son Marcus Anthony Crockett of Miami, Florida; step-sisters Renee (George Jr.) Wright and their son, George III of South Haven, Sharon Bennett of Allen, Texas, Mia Bennett of Oak Park, Michigan, step-brother Michael Bennett of Allendale, Arizona; nephews Harvey (Natreece) Hollins III of Belleville, Michigan, Sean (Sonya) Hollins of Kalamazoo, Chad Hollins of Las Vegas, Nevada; niece Jamie (Tory) Hollingworth of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a host of great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Wake will be Friday, January 8 from 10 – 11 at the Covert Community Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church.
