Charles Lindberg Lowery,77, of Pullman died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
Charles Lindberg Lowery, was born May 22, 1932 in Money, Mississippi, he the seventh of nine child born to Estella and Harvey Lowery. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri and eventually to Chicago, Illinois, in search of a better way of life. In 1950, he was united in holy matrimony to Venola Davis. This union lasted for 24 years and produced two children, Charlestine and Anthony. In 1973, Charles returned to his rural roots by moving to Grand Junction Michigan. He was always an extremely active, fun loving person, who was always the life of the party.
Charles’ professional career included several successful entrepreneurial ventures, which included, Truck Fleet Owner, Heavy Equipment Operator, Hog and Vegetable Farmer, Used and Collectable Car Salesmen, and Salvage Operator. His primary goal was always to ensure that his children and relatives had all their desires fulfilled. Some men leave their mark on the world through the way they live and the guidance they provide in the lives of those they touch. He was Daddy Charles, Daddy Lowery and Pops to those who cherished and loved him.
In 1974, he was married to Jessie Burrell Lowery and for the next thirty-five years she was his constant companion. Together they raised three sons during these years, Angelo, Charles Jr and Rashid. Charles developed his personal relationship with God and was baptized in 1980. He was an active member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. William McGee. His spirit will always be remembered, when you share the stories and memories of how he lived his life and how special he made all of us feel.
He was preceded in death his parents, brothers - Heuy Lee, Harvey, Jr. L.C., Johnnie, Willie and sisters – Sarah Alice, Ella Mae, and Dorothy Jean.
He will forever by cherished by his loving wife – Jessie Mae Lowery. Children – Charlestine Porter, Anthony (Montrice) Lowery, Stephanie McAbee, Angelo Lowery and Dwayne McAbee all of Chicago, Illinois, Charles Lowery Jr., of Kingsley, Michigan, Rashid Lowery Sr., of Grand Junction, Michigan, Maria Lowery of Los Angeles, California. Goddaughter – Angel LaCorix Pearson of Inkster, Michigan. A very special niece, - Ereatha Clayborne, her daughter - Precious and a dear great grandson – Darrius Moragne. Twenty-one grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Wake will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009, starting at 12:00 PM; at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The Funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M.; with Pastor Stephney Black officiating. The Burial will take place at Lee Township Cemetery in Pullman, Michigan.
