Osie Lee's Obituary
Osie Lee Gaines Sr., 83, of Covert died Monday, July 13 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
He was born September 29, 1925 in Chatfield, Arkansas to Noman and Lucille (Strickland) Gaines. Osie worked for Auto Specialties in Benton Harbor for 30 years. Osie loved to travel, especially to Hawaii where he had visited several times.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his brother – LC Gaines.
He is survived by his children – Osie L. (Barbara) Gaines Jr. of Stone Mt., Georgia, Danny Gaines of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Linda (Bernard) Wright of Douglasville, Georgia. Five grandchildren – Joycelyen Marie Gaines, Berlinda D. Wright, Bernard Wright Jr., Bevin Brighida Gaines and Osie L.(Michelle) Gaines III. One great granddaughter – Penelope Kathleen Gaines, Four sisters – AV “Pat” McClain of Covert, Michigan, Linda Miller of Luxora, Arkansas, Virgie Paige of Covert, Michigan and Ruby Gardner of St. Paul, Minnesota. Two brothers – Pleses “Mike” Gaines and LeRoy Paige both of Chicago, Illinois. A special nephew –James Estell also survives.
Visitation will be Friday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Gene Bailey officiating. Burial will take place at Covert Cemetery in Covert Township.
