Lawrence Abbott Sr.

Lawrence David Abbott Sr., 75, of Bangor died Tuesday, July 7, at his home in Geneva Township.

He was born September 25, 1933 in South Haven, Michigan to William Lee and Eleanor (Adams) Abbott. Larry married Wilma Sue Rose on January 15, 1955 at Simpson United Methodist Church in Bangor. Larry worked as a molder for South Haven Rubber Company for 37 1/2 years and DuWell for 4 years. Larry and Sue are the owners of Abbott’s Blueberry Farm. They are a member of the Michigan Blueberry Growers Association.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his baby daughter – Sharon Abbott who died in 1955, brother – Jack Abbott.

He is survived by his wife – Wilma Sue Abbott of Bangor, Michigan. Two sons – Larry (Deborah) Abbott Jr. of Lacota, Michigan and Dennis Abbott of Lawrence, Michigan. Four grandchildren – Shannon (Kevin) Brown, David (Marjorie) Abbott, Isis and Jason. Two great grand children – Nick and Marrissa. Seven siblings – Mary Ellen Goodrode of South Haven, Jane Aiuppy of South Haven, Dean Abbott of Bangor, Buck (Carole) Abbott of Bangor, Joyce Abbott of South Haven, Keith (Bonnie) Abbott of Gobles and Pete (Molly) Abbott of Grand Junction. His close friends – Paul & Lois Krugler of Bangor also survive.

Visitation will be from Thursday, July 9, from 6 to 8 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, July 10, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Harold F. Filbrandt officiating. Burial will take place at Monks Cemetery, Geneva Township.
