Eleanor Gladys's Obituary

Eleanor Gladys Jensen, 89, of Hot Springs, South Dakota and formerly of South Haven, Michigan died Tuesday, May 19 at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She moved to Hot Springs after the death of her husband to be closer to her son for help with her Alzheimer’s.

She was born August 24, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary (Hinz) Hoffman. She had one brother – William Hoffman who precedes her in death. The family moved from Chicago to South Haven, Michigan where she attended school. Eleanor worked for Everett Piano Company as a first aid employee. Eleanor met and married Irving E. Jensen on August 25, 1941 in South Haven and remained married until the death of Irving in May of 1999. Eleanor was a well known nurse at the South Haven Community Hospital and later as the office nurse for Dr. Morris Buckborough and Dr. John Kleber. Eleanor and her husband were longtime members of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Haven.

She is preceded in death along with her parents and brother by her husband – Irving and infant daughter – Carol Ann.

She is survived by her daughter – Nancy Wells of Nassau, Bahamas and son - Edward Jensen of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Daughter-in-law – Kathy Jensen and son-in-law – Clifton Wells. Five grandchildren and eleven great grandchild.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in South Haven.
