Carolyn Corzine

Carolyn Eugurtha Hawkins, 64, of Lansing formerly of Covert, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18 surrounded by her children and loved ones.

She was born September 13, 1944 in Camp Lejune, North Carolina to John L. and Mildred D. (Coleman) Davis Sr. Carolyn loved and cared for many working as a registered nurse for several hospitals and nursing homes. Carolyn loved gardening, having many house plants and outside flower gardens. One of he favorite sayings is “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” Carolyn also enjoyed painting, crocheting, and music, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren and later great grandchildren who all carry a piece of her within them. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her sister – Joan Benoit who died in 1982.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children – Mildred (Steven) Christie of South Haven, Michigan, Kimberly Hawkins of Lansing, Michigan, Timothy A. (Margaret) Hawkins of Akron, Ohio and Thomas S. (Melissa) Hawkins of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Carole Bogan of Kalamazoo, MI. 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. One brother – John (Annie) Davis Jr. of Lansing, Michigan. Many nieces and nephews and a special daughter – Jessica Hurlbert also survives.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 24 at 2:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Davis and Pastor Christopher Davis officiating.
Family will receive friends from 1 -2 before the service at the funeral home.
