Virgil's Obituary

Virgil S. Brumbaugh, 78, of Bangor died Friday, October 31, 2008.

He was born April 17, 1930 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Earl & A. Lorene (Smashey) Brumbaugh. Virgil married Shirley Brown on May 20, 1950. Virgil and his father-in-law, Harvey Brown owned South Haven Coil for 30 years. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a University of Michigan Fan, and an avid big lake fisherman. He pitched for Michigan Men’s League - Fast Pitch Softball, winning the State Championship in 1955.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by a grandson- Timothy Bachman.

He is survived by his wife – Shirley Brumbaugh of Bangor, Michigan. Four sons – Ross Brumbaugh of Bangor, Michigan, Mark (Esther) Brumbaugh of Houston, Texas, Brian (Kathleen) Brumbaugh of South Haven, Michigan, and Rick Brumbaugh of Portage, Michigan. Two daughters – Jana Bachman of Lainsberg, Michigan, and Peggy Brumbaugh of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Six grandchildren – Jon, Eric, Kristine, Colin, Seth, Christopher and Dylan. One great-grandchild – Natalie. One brother – Kenneth (Donna) Brumbaugh of Bedford, Indiana also survives.

Visitation will be from 2-4 on Sunday, November 2 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 3 at 2:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to Borgess Visiting Nurses Hospice.
