Oran's Obituary
Oran Albert Alexander Mitchell, 85, of South Haven died Friday, October 24 at his home.
He was born March 2, 1923 in Seward, Illinois to Robert and Alice (Carson) Mitchell. Oran served his country in the U.S. Army. Oran married June Leary on March 21, 1954 in Glenwood, Illinois. Oran was a dedicated teacher and coach for the South Haven Public Schools retiring after 30 years.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his brothers – Erwin Mitchell and Robert Mitchell and sisters – Ada Nelson and Lorraine Peterson.
He is survived by his wife – June Mitchell of South Haven, Michigan. One son – Victor (Jane) Mitchell of Monterey, California. Three daughters – Laurel (Mike) Jones of Courtland, Alabama, Bonnie Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas and Pamela (Ernest) Stevens of Cedar Lake, Michigan. Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One brother –John Mitchell of Chaska, Minnesota.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 28 from 1-3 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Scott officiating. Burial will take place in Big Lake Cemetery in Big Lake, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund or Boy's Town of Omaha, Nebraska.
