James Carol

James Gazy Carol, 62, died at home on Thursday, September 18, 2008.

Jim was born on June 23, 1946 in Flint, Michigan to John and Olga (Niedzielski) Carol. Jim graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1964. He married Suzanne Boudreau on May 18, 1968. Jim graduated from Western Michigan University in 1984. Jim was a Michigan State Trooper for 27 years retiring in 1996. Jim served the communities of Flat Rock, Owosso and South Haven. Following his retirement from the Michigan State Police he served as the Undersheriff for the Van Buren County Sheriff Department in Paw Paw, Michigan. He was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church. Jim loved all sports and history. He also loved spending time at his cottage on Crystal Lake in Beulah.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Suzanne Carol who died September 16, 2008.

He is survived by his daughters – Bridget (Michael) Carol Fountain of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Colleen (Daniel Norbeck) Carol of Saugatuck, Michigan. One grandson – Liam Norbeck. One brother – John Carol Jr. of Flint, Michigan and two sisters – Julie Jeffs of Traverse City, Michigan and Janet Raffee of Flushing, Michigan. Twenty six beloved nephews and nieces also survive.

Visitation for Jim and Suzie will be Monday, September 22 from 5 – 8 with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
