Robert's Obituary

Robert P. Konrad, 72 of South Haven, passed away peacefully at Bronson Hospital, surrounded by his family, on June 20, 2008.

Bob was born June 5, 1936 in Neoga, Illinois to Henry and Verona (Wolke) Konrad. He graduated from Neoga High School in 1954. A transfer with G.C. Murphy brought him to South Haven in 1956 as assistant manager. He soon became a partner with Appleyard Photography, where he worked for many years. He owned and operated Bob’s Film and Frame until his retirement in 1999.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara (Drake) Konrad; daughters – Judy (Mike) Sweet, Donna (David) Kellum and Robin Seabury of South Haven; step-daughters Tristan Greenman of South Haven, Tracy Greenman of Battle Creek, and Tiffany Greenman of Lansing; stepsons Timothy Greenman of Battle Creek, and Ted Greenman of Denver, Colorado; granddaughters Sommer (Nate) Fields, Angela Sweet, and Kristen Sweet of South Haven; grandsons Brandon Seabury, Anthony Seabury, and Camron Seabury of South Haven; step-grandsons Tyler and Geoffrey Greenman of Denver, Colorado and Jared Marr of South Haven; great grandsons Julian, Ashton and Korbin Fields of South Haven, a sister, Loretta Konrad of Effingham, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Harry (Maryann) Deters of Sigel, Illinois; two nieces, two nephews, and 15 grand nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Madonna Deters and Eloise Konrad and ex-wife Gracie (Krupa) Konrad.

Bob was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, but his family is what brought him the most joy and pleasure. He followed local and national sports, spending many hours attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events, as well as the Cubs’ and Tigers’ spring training camps. He was also a league bowler for many years, and a member of the South Haven Memorial Library board of directors, the Jaycees, and Peace Lutheran Church.

Bob will be remembered not only for his photographic presence of countless weddings, school sporting events, proms and graduations, but mostly for his kindness, gentle strength, and dedication to his family and community.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, June 23 at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. A service celebrating Bob’s life will be Tuesday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 06321 Blue Star Hwy., with Pastor Robert Linstrom officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to South Haven Memorial Library, Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, or a charity of one’s choice.
