Jesse's Obituary
Jesse Cox, 80, of South Haven died Wednesday, June 4 at his home.
He was born January 14, 1928 in South Haven, Michigan to Henrietta (Mommey) and Jesse Franklin Cox. Jesse served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Jesse married Barbara Shumaker on March 27, 1950 in South Bend, Indiana. Jesse worked at Everett Piano Company. He was also a member of the U.A.W. and worked at Nuclear Power Plants thoughtout Michigan. He also worked at the busy bee Flea Market Jesse enjoyed working with wood and made many different crafts. Jesse was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife – Barbara Cox of South Haven, Michigan. Three sons – Norman Cox, Jeffrey(Trina) Cox both of Gilbert, Arizona and Patrick (Laura) Cox of South Haven, Michigan. Two daughters – Carla (Bob) Young and Lisa (Carl) VanWy both of South Haven, Michigan. 21 grandchildren and spouses, 17 great grandchildren. One brother – George Edward Cox of Allegan, Michigan and three half-sisters – Violet Stone, Beatrice Mommey, and Virginia Faust all of Muskegon, Michigan also survive
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 on Sunday, June 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place at Stephenson Cemetery in Casco Township. Memorial contributions can be made to South Haven Hospice at Home or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
