Marjorie's Obituary

Marjorie E. Moody, 84, of South Haven died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 at the River Ridge Retirement Community.

She was born October 26, 1923 in South Haven, Michigan to Harold and Hilda (Carter) Smith. Marjorie married Jack Moody on June 18, 1944 at the First Congregational Church in South Haven. Marjorie worked at the South Haven City Hall and then at Dr. Hood’s office for several years as a receptionist. She was a member of the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, Scott Club of South Haven. Marjorie also volunteered at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints helping with genealogy research. Marjorie was a creative and crafty person and enjoyed ceramics, baking, sewing, and genealogy.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Jack Moody who died in 1978. Her son – Chuck Moody in 1988 also precedes her.

She is survived by two daughters – Marianne (Neil) Mead of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kathy (Tony) Hoenle of Lake in the Hills, Illinois. One son – William (Patsy) Moody of Nashville, Tennessee. Step-daughter – Susan Vetter of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Six grandchildren. One sister - Julianne (Don) Roe of South Haven, Michigan.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 31, from 1:00 to 1:30 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM at the funeral home with The Rev. Father Andrew Gross officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
