T. Gerry's Obituary
T. Gerry Capps,70, of South Haven died Tuesday, January 8 at his home.
He was born June 15, 1937 in South Haven to Thomas R. and Dorotha (Johnson) Capps. Gerry married Dixie Norman on December 3, 1956. Gerry owned a service station on Blue Star Hwy and M-140 Hwy. He was also a truck driver for Pleasuremate and Bohn Aluminum. Gerry was the owner of the Maple Grove Tavern and former owner of the Maple Grove Marine Service since 1983. Gerry enjoyed racing both stock and sprint cars all over the Midwest. Gerry was the former commander of the South Haven Coast Guard Auxiliary #1801 and Commodore for the River Bend Boat Club. Gerry was a man of many trades.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his brother – Glenn Capps.
He is survived by his wife Dixie Capps of South Haven, MI., Four sons- Larry (Sue) Capps of Grand Rapids, MI., Thomas (Sandy) Capps of South Haven, MI., Todd (Sheri) Capps of South Haven, MI., Timothy (Laura) Capps of Fennville, MI. 13 grandchildren – Candace, Bill, Ciara Capps, Samantha (Mike)Tayler, Matt, Phillip, Josh Capps, Alli, Chandler Lane, Ashley, April Capps, Thomas and Ryan Capps . Two sisters – Joanne Hoag of Grand Rapids, MI and Donna Jean Capps of South Haven, MI. Sister-in-law – Eleanor Capps of South Haven several nieces and nephews also survives.
A visitation will be Sunday, January 13 from 2 - 4 at the First Congregational Church in South Haven. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church with Pastor Duane Jones officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Moose Lodge.
