Charles "Chuck"'s Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Hurn Sr., 70, of South Haven died Tuesday, November 20 at home.
He was born June 27, 1937 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Nath and Azeal Hurn. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as in Air Traffic Control. Chuck married Ruby Pitts on September 19, 1956 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Chuck worked as a supervisor at Chase Manufacturing in Holland and Douglas, Michigan through the 1960’s. He also owned and operated the N & M restaurant in South Haven along with his wife Ruby for 30 years. Chuck loved to talk on his CB Radio, he was called Grundy 5. He looked forward to Saturday nights, he called them Grundy night, to talk to all his friends and shoot skip all over the country.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Ruby Hurn who died in 2004.
He is survived by his son – Charles Hurn Jr. and daughter – Debbie Lash both of South Haven, Michigan. Two brothers – Terry of California, and Jeff Arizona. Five sisters – Tammy of California, Shirley of California, Virginia of West Olive, Michigan, Dwella and Cathy both of Arkansas. Step-mother – Mary Hurn. Five grandchildren – Charles Wesley III, David, Jeff, Mark, Frank Lash Jr. Five great grandchildren – Wesley, Connor, Madison, Bryce and K. Lynn.
Visitation will be from 6-8 on Sunday, November 25 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Kuenzli officiating.
