Jacob "Jake"'s Obituary
Jacob “Jake” Ellmer, 99, of South Haven died Friday, September 7 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
He was born February 9, 1908 in Lefor, North Dakota to John and Eva (Andes) Ellmer. Jake married Gertrude Keck on August 29, 1932. Jake owned and operated Jake’s Refrigeration and Heating and Cooling from 1950 – 1985. He was a life member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge # 697 and the Riverbend Boat Club. Jake enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, playing cards and camping.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Gertrude Ellmar who died in 1992. His son – David Ellmer in 2005. Two brothers – John Ellmer and Steve Ellmer. One sister – Ann Keck also precedes him.
He is survived by one son – Steve (Irene) Ellmer of South Haven, Michigan. One daughter – Rosemary (Les) Morehead of South Haven, Michigan. Daughter-in-law – Sharon Ellmer of South Haven, Michigan. Seven grandchildren – Jim Ellmer, Lori Ellmer, Lisa (Steve) Carson, Deb (Todd) Reger, Sue (Pete) True, Leslie Morehead Jr. Kristina Estavillo. Five great grandchildren – Ashley, Mckenzie, Autum, Devin and Jacob. One brother – Ben (Dorothy) Ellmer and two sisters – Marie Schaag and Helen Ging all of Florida.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 21 at 2:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Fisher officiating.
