Richard Wank

Richard A. Wank, 91, of Lansing, Michigan formerly of South Haven died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Grand Haven Assisted Living in Lansing, Michigan.

He was born November 15, 1915 to Emma (Mielke) and Albert Wank. Dick was a 1933 graduate of South Haven High School. Dick served his country in the US Army during World War II. Dick married Caroline Onken on July 19, 1947 in South Haven. Dick owned and operated Wank’s Furniture Store here in South Haven for 45 years. Dick was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in South Haven. He is presently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lansing.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife – Caroline who died in 1999. Two sisters - Gertrude Weber and Marguerite Disbrow. Four brothers - Paul Wank, William Wank, Harold Wank, and Edison Wank also precede him.

He is survived by three daughters – Mary Ellen (Norman) Martin of Royal Oak, Michigan, Barbara (Rick) Wank Oliver of Gilbert, Arizona and Carol Wank of Lansing, Michigan. Six grandchildren – Derek Voigt, Carin (Allen) Timke, Melissa (Mike) McCafferty, Mike (Tarah) Gidley, Kevin (Christine) Martin and Kristen (Bill) Prazuch. and seven great grand children.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Building Fund at Peace Lutheran Church or to South Haven Area Hospice.
