Reno's Obituary

Reno C. Hamlin, 92, of South Haven died Friday, November 24 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

He was born March 18, 1914 in Glenn, Michigan to Ida (Overhiser) and Jerome Hamlin. He served his country in the United States National Guard from 1931 - 1940. Reno married Betty Stienbacher on April 12, 1936 in Muskegon, Michigan. He then married Rose Berkins on July 2, 1994 in South Haven, Michigan. Reno worked for Everett Piano in South Haven for 37 years. He was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church, South Haven Rod and Gun Club and a lifetime member of the Steelheaders Association.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his first wife – Betty Hamlin who died in 1993 and his second wife – Rose Hamlin who died in 2000. One son – Roger Hamlin in 2005 and a sister – Dotti Hinkelmen.

He is survived by one sons – Greg (Carol) Hamlin of St. Paul, Minnesota. Two daughters – Judy (James) Eckelbarger of Coloma, Michigan and Janice (Drew) Peterson of Indianapolis, Indiana. 8 grandchildren – Christopher Worick, John Worick, Jennifer Worick, Julie Griffith, Amy Flindt, Karil Hamlin, Nathen Hamlin, and Sarah Peterson. 7 great grandchildren – Melissa, Rebekah, Jaron, Jaden, Jennelle, and Avery. One great great grandchild – Ian. One brother – Ward Hamlin of South Haven, Michigan and Virginia Martin of Columbia, South Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5 from 7 - 9 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with a Scripture Service beginning at 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 6 at 11:00 A.M. at St Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father John Young officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Military Rites will be presented by the VFW #1137 of Benton Harbor, VFW #6803 of Watervliet and the American Legion Post #362 of Coloma. Memorial contributions can be made to South Haven Area Hospice or St. Basil Educational Endowment Fund.
