William Scott's Obituary

Wm Scott Lane, 61, of South Haven died Thursday, August 17 at South Haven Community Hospital.

He was born April 10, 1945 in South Haven to William Nickolas and Margaret (Hill) Lane. Scott graduated from South Haven High School in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and the National Guard during Operation Dessert Storm. Scott graduated from the Flint Institute of Barbering. Scott’s family owned and operated a barber shop in South Haven for over 100 years. Presently Scott was working at The Barber Shop along with his colleague Neil Brown. Scott was a member of Out Riders Motorcycle Club of South Haven. He enjoyed fishing. Scott was a member of the Am Vets Duane Dewey Post #1988, American Legion Post #49 and the VFW Post #667 all in South Haven. Scott was involved with Living History in the reenactment of the French and Indian War.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his father-in-law – Charles Overheul.

He is survived by his wife – Kimberly Dawn Lane who he married March 14, 2002. His son – William Cody (Heather) Lane of Las Vegas, Nevada. Daughter – Michelle Richards of Florida. Step-son - Brett Overhuel of South Haven, Michigan. Grand daughter – Lindsey Richards. Mother-in-law – Pat Overheul of Stevensville, Michigan also survives.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 20 from 2:30 – 6:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Jarvis officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion.
