Harvey Lee's Obituary

Harvey Lee Williams Sr. peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 22,2006. He was born on April 14, 1931 to Jessie and Ola Mae (Starks) Williams in Ita Bena, Mississippi.

On August 2, 1958, Harvey married the love of his life, Mary Louise Brigham in South Haven, Michigan. By the grace of God, this union produced six children, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After the passing of his wife, Mary, having been united for 47 years, compansionship was not quite as gratifying.

Harvey served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class in the Korean War. Following this retirement, he worked at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant for fourteen years. He proudly served his community in the capacity of Auxiliary Officer for the City of South Haven and generously volunteered his time as a driver for the Senior Services of South Haven. Some of his favorite pastimes included searching the beach with his metal detector, watching wrestling, listening to his scanner and gardening. If you ever had the pleasure of driving past 632 Broadway Street, you may have taken note of his well-manicured lawn. He expecially enjoyed the quality times spent with his grandchildren.

He is loved and remembered by his four sons, Harvey Williams Jr. of South Haven, Michigan, Alan Williams of Covert, Michigan, Scott (Nanette) Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Darryl (Michelle) Williams of South Haven, Michigan. Two daughters, Rose Marie (James) Williams of Watervliet, Michigan and Linda Williams of South Haven, Michigan. He is cherished by six brothers, Walter Williams, Lieutenant Williams and Lewis Williams all of Chicago, Illinois. Willie Williams, Henry Clay Williams and Eddie Williams of Mississippi.
