Richard J. Davis, 92, of South Haven died Tuesday, April 18 at his home.
He was born September 1, 1913 in South Haven, Michigan to Pearl (Lockwood) and John Davis. Richard married Grace Landry on February 1, 1935 in South Haven. Richard was a fruit farmer for several years before going to work at Everett Piano Company. He then worked at the Everett Piano factory for 30 years retiring in 1976. Richard enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by two sons – Richard D. Davis who died February 22, 1958 and Douglas A. Davis who died January 10, 1959. A brother – Claude Davis also precedes him.
He is survived by his wife – Grace Davis of South Haven, Michigan. Two sons – Larry (Charlotte) Davis and Phillip (Mary) Davis both of South Haven, Michigan. Six grandchildren – Dawn (Terry) Dingwell, Amy Davis, Penny (Gregg) Moench, Kathy Crawford, Michael Davis and James Davis. Five great grandchildren – Emily Dingwell, Alaina Dingwell, Jacob Moench, Alexandria Moench and Abigail Moench. One brother – Gerald Davis of Wayland, Michigan and sister- Joyce Otten of Glendale, Michigan.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 20 from 12 - 1 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Curry Pikkart officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to Hemophilia Foundation 200 North Park St., Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007.
