Elizabeth's Obituary

 

Elizabeth Hacker, 79, of South Haven died on February 10 at home.  Born on November 23, 1933 to Berry and Irene (Foust) Minton in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, Elizabeth had a passion for ceramics and gardening. Elizabeth worked at the NCO Club in Wakkanai Japan while her husband was stationed there in the early 1970's, and after moving to South Haven several years later, she worked locally at the Phoenix Farm Market, Stephenson Farm Market and at Camp Agudah. In death, Elizabeth is reunited with her husband LaMoyne “Bub” Hacker (whom she married in December of 1953), along with her parents and two brothers – Junior and Edward Minton.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Lora (Craig) Blank of Dowagiac, Larry (Julia) Hacker of Grand Junction, Lloyd (Sally) Hacker, of South Haven, Linn (Roberta) Hacker of White Cloud, and Linda Overhuel of South Haven, and her grandchildren: Thomas Bailey, Jessica Bailey-Blank, Zachariah Blank, Arlene Hacker, Richard Hacker, April Corzine, Samantha Corzine, Jennie (David) Geisler, Erin Gabriel, Jacob Gabriel, Tiffany Hacker, Robert Bard (engaged to Rachel Villanueva), Deanna Overhuel, and Devon Overhuel. She was adored by her twelve great grandchildren, and was also survived by her sister Inez Marquardt of St. Joseph and a sister-in-law Georgia Minton of Baldwin, Michigan.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Chaplain Lauri Timmer officiating. Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery next to her husband.  There will be a luncheon following services at the South Haven Community Church, 1045 E. Wilson Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090. Contributions can be made in Elizabeth's memory to the family or South Haven's Hospice at Home.
