Florence's Obituary
Florence Rendall, 93, of South Haven, died May 15, 2013 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo, with her daughters at her side. She was born July 15, 1919 in Grand Rapids, MI, the fourth of nine children of John and Wanda Jarmuloski. After graduating from Davis Tech High School in Grand Rapids, Florence worked in retail for several years, before she married high school sweetheart and Michigan State Police officer Charles Long. They moved to Traverse City, then East Lansing, Hillsdale, and finally to South Haven in 1960.
Florence was active as an artist, heading up the South Haven Art League for several years. She also chaired the South Haven Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. She and Charlie divorced in the late 1970’s. About five years later, she met and married Fred Rendall of St. Joseph, MI. Together the two of them traveled extensively, often in a motor home. Fred’s interests complemented Florence’s - he made the mats and frames for many of her paintings. Florence enjoyed gardening and cooking, excelling at both. She was a member of St. Basil’s Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Bert, sisters Valeria, Helen, and Phyllis, former husband Charles Long, and husband Frederick Rendall. She is survived by daughters Jean Harden and Nancy (Stephen) Robinson, sister Wanda Atman, and brothers Ted Jarmuloski, Charles (Donna) Jarmoloski, Joseph (Elizabeth) Jarvis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred’s children Richard (Sandi) Rendall, Peggy Henderson, Freddie (Andy) Lampl , and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Fred’s granddaughter Bonnie (Shawn) Healy, also survive.
Visitation at St. Basil’s Church, South Haven, 12:30-1:30 Sat. May 18, followed by funeral Mass and refreshments. Contributions in Florence’s name may be made to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49048 or St. Basil School Endowment, 94 Superior St., South Haven, MI 49090.
