Emery's Obituary

Emery Harold Johnson of Lifehouse Lakeside Vista & Villas in Holland, Michigan passed away at the Hospice House of Holland, June 14th. Emery was born Dec. 27, 1924 to John Peter and Cecil Edith Johnson.  He graduated from Otsego High School in 1943, where he was known as "Sharpshooter" for his basketball skills. He then went on to join the U.S. Navy in 1944.  Soon  after, he  married Joan Miller Johnson at the First Baptist Church in Allegan where they were members.  Emery's  career included  working as a Millwright at the Mac Sim Bar  paper mill in Otsego, Welder Fabricator for Miller Brothers Oil Company,  Carl Goodwin & Sons,  Port Sheldon Power Plant and Bill Smith Sand  & Gravel.

His wife, Joan, grandchildren Julie Cummins & Joshua Grimes, great grandchild Ellie Jakubowski & son-in-law Wayne Cummins along  with his parents, brothers Milford ( Maxine) & Neil ( Ruth) Johnson & sisters Maxine  Johnson & Beulah ( Wilford) Johnson precede him in death.

He is survived by son Rick ( Judy) Johnson of South Haven, daughters Linda Cummins of North Ft. Myers, Fl  & Julie ( Ted) Weber of South Haven, Mi grandchildren -Cassie ( Michael) Jakubowski, Jake (Aeria) Grimes, Carmen (Troy) Rye, Sarah (Adam) Shinske & Clayton Cummins,  great grandchildren -Emma & Sophie Jakubowski, Joshua  Grimes, Avery &  Kadyn  Hoyt,  Issabela & Victoria Cummins & sister-in-law Maxine Johnson.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. & 11 a.m., respectively, Tuesday, June 18th, -Peace Lutheran Church, 06321 Blue Star Hwy, South Haven with a light luncheon to follow.   Afterward ,  burial  will take place at Oakwood Cemetery,  Allegan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.
