Allan's Obituary

Allan Martin Willobee , died June 26th surrounded by his family at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Allan was proceeded in death by his parents, Dorothy Maude (Lancaster) Willobee and Jack Wendell Willobee, step-mother Catherine Elizabeth (Lorenz) Willobee and twin grandsons, Dylan and Gavin Meyers. 

Allan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Ann (Clarke) Willobee of South Haven MI, son Michael Willobee of South Haven MI, daughter Susan (Kevin) Zimmer of Kalamazoo, daughter Julie (Michael) Meyers of Kalamazoo, sister Jacqueline (Lee) Garcia of CA, brother Hal (Gunnel) Willobee of South Haven MI, sister Leslie (Douglas) Ryor of Stevensville MI, step-brother Dale Kessel of Mesa AZ, step-brother James Kessel of FL, Debra Fatkin of NC, sister in-law Joan (Richard) Farkas of Wilmet Il, Mary Ann (William) Mueller of Buffalo Grove Il, brother in-law Arthur (Cynthia) Clarke of South Haven MI and grandchildren Jessie White, Ashley Zimmer, Hannah Zimmer, Natalie Zimmer, Jennifer Willobee, Ian Meyers and Zachariah Meyers. 

Allan graduated from L.C. Mohr High School in 1962 and went on to attend Ferris State University. 

Allan spent much of his early working career in the family businesses of Michigan Orchard Supply Company and Willobee Produce with his father, grandfather and brother.  The last 24 years of his working career were spent at Gaste Mfg., first at their Bridgeman facility and later in the Benton Harbor facility until he retired in 2010. 

Allan was a former member of the Jaycees and adult leader in Boy Scout Troop 199. A longtime member of the First Congregational Church Allan served on several boards over the years including Christian Education, Deaconate, Missions, and the Men’s Wednesday Work Group. After retirement Allan became more active with his church and the local Habitat for Humanity program. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the First Congregation Church U.C.C. in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Allan’s memory to the Church Building Fund. Allan will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
