Orah's Obituary

Orah Leon Amerson, 78 of  Lee Township, Michigan passed Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He was born January 5, 1935 in Cairo, Illinois to Orah Ezell and Lenora (Allen) Amerson.  After graduating from High School,  Orah  joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict in 1952-1955 deployed to Germany. Orah was certified as a Neuro-Psychiatric Specialist. He worked at the V.A. Hospital in Battle Creek Mi. and Hines V.A. Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in the Psychiatric Ward  as a alcohol and drug counselor. He retired with 36 years service. He was a father to one son Mark L. Amerson. He married his wife Alice (Fulton) Amerson on March 24, 1979.  
Mr. Amerson was a member of the New Hope M.B. Church in Pullman, Mi.
where he served as a Trustee to the Church.  
 
Orah is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Joseph Johnson, Albertha Wesley and Pearlie Watkins.  He is survived by his wife,  Alice Amerson.  His son, Mark (Dadre) Amerson, three grandchildren -  Nicholas Gary, Nicola Amerson and Jordan Amerson.  His brothers Harold (Phyllis) Johnson and Elroy Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 
The wake will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the New Hope M. B. Church @ 11:00 A.M. The funeral service will follow @ 12:00 P.M.    officiated by Pastor Steppney Black. Orah's final resting place will be Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet Illinois.
