Elizabeth's Obituary
Elizabeth "Betsy" Zimmerman, 74, of South Haven died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at her home in South Haven. She was born December 10, 1930 in New Haven, Connecticut to John and Elizabeth (Higgins) Lynch. Betsy married Robert Zimmermann on October 2, 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut. Betsy enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, tennis and piano. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed watching tennis and figure skating on television. Betsy also enjoyed playing brdige and duplicate bridge. Betsy was an excellent cook. She was known for her meatballs and sauce. Betsy was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at South Haven Community Hospital. She was a member of the Scott Club. She attended St. Basil's Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Cup Minister. Betsy loved to watch birds in her back yard and sunsets on Lake Michigan. She was a 22 year cancer survivor. Even with Betsy's health declining in recent years, she still had the will to laugh, joke and smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Patrick S. Zimmermann.
She is survived by her husband of 51 yers, Robert "Bob" Zimmermann of South Haven; one daughter, Ann (Tony) Johnson of South Haven; four sons, Robert (Pam) Zimmermann Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, David (Roberto Cassanto) Zimmermann of Covert, Paul (Linda Sosman) Zimmermann of Oak Park, Illinois, and Christopher Zimmermann of Chicago. She adored and was loved by her nine grandchildren, Patrick, Peter, Ethan, Kale, Elle, Jonah, Evan, Soutine and Quinn. One brother, John P. Lynch III of Hamden, Connecticut, cousins, Anne Callahan of West Haven, Connecticut, Joan (Bob) Warner of North Haven, Connecticut, and Clair Minor of New Jersery; sisters-in-law, Margaret Zimmermann of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Bertha Zimmermann of Hamden, Connecticut' and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Monday, October 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home, South Haven, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Basil's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Don Wieber officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Basil's Building Fund.
