Margarete Odebrecht

Margarete (Schewe) Odebrecht, 95, of South Haven, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was born February 3, 1919 to Emil and Anna (Dudvia) Schewe in Voelpke, Germany. She married Earl Odebrecht on November 9, 1940. Margarete was a life-long resident of South Haven and a member of the South Haven Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Margarete spent her life sharing her love for the Bible with others.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Earl Odebrecht ; siblings – Arthur Schewe, William Schewe, Walter Schewe, and Mary Bergeson; two grandchildren – Chase and Remington Thornton.

Margarete is survived by her children – William (Sharon) Odebrecht, Lorna Llorens, and Lynette (Jim) Thornton all of South Haven and Earlynn (Jim) Balser of Montgomery, WV; sister-in-law – Betty Schewe of South Haven; seven grandchildren – Andrew (Shelly) Odebrecht, Daniel (Rachel) White, Angelina (Andrew) Barnes, Jaymee (Michael) Lively, Justin (Evelia) Thornton, Jessica (Travis) Kesterson, and Ryan (Melissa) Woodley; ten great-grandchildren – Abigail and William “Jake” Odebrecht, Reece Woodley, Trent Lively, Emma White, Arabella and Beau Thornton, Kara Kesterson, Mirra Woodley, and Kinsley Kesterson. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Beach Haven Event Center, 10420 M-140, South Haven, MI 49090. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Margarete’s memory to the Kingdom Hall, 07725 Blue Star Highway, South Haven Michigan 49090.
