Cathy's Obituary
Cathy Sue Smothers, 50, of Niles, MI, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. She was born March 7, 1964 to Howard and Bonnie (Carver) Cooper in Ashland, KY. During her life, Cathy was a registered nurse and worked for 13 years at the South Haven Community Hospital. She also worked at Unity Surgical Center as an OR nurse in Mishawaka, IN. She was united in marriage to Mitchell Smothers on November 27, 1981. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and sister and she is greatly loved and missed.
Cathy is preceded in death by her father - Howard Cooper.
She is survived by her mother - Bonnie Carver of Olive Hill, KY. Children - Stacey (Aaron) Elrod of Niles, MI, Michael (Cara) Kaine Smothers of Summerfield, FL. Grandchildren - Lyla Nunez, Michael Kaine Smothers Jr., Camilla Elrod, Kolton Carter Smothers, Ella Elrod. Brother - Mitchell Davis of Kalamazoo, MI. Nephews - Ian Webber-Davis, Corwyn Bockover-Davis. Niece - Neveah Bockover-Davis.
The visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M.
