Sadie's Obituary
Sadie Cobbs, 104, of Covert, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. She was born June 10, 1910 to Thomas and Bertha (Ramey) Green in Memphis, Tennessee. Sadie lived most of her life in Chicago before coming to Michigan. She was a very loving mother. Sadie was an excellent cook and was known for her carrot cake, coconut cake, pound cake, and homemade ice cream. She enjoyed going to church.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her grandson – Mark Covington and siblings – Howard, Thomas, Julius, Romaden, James Earl, Andra Mae, Lucille, Alnora, Estoria, and Ella.
Sadie is survived by her children – Leverett (Sherrill) Covington of Eden Prairie, MN, Walter (Ruth) Covington of Coloma, MI, Ralph Covington of Memphis, IL, and Marjorie Ford of Chicago; four grandchildren – Alicia Muhammad, Rahsaan Covington, Ralph Covington Jr., and Brandi Windom. Five great-great grandchildren - Aaron Smith, Isaiah Smith, Mary Aleecia Smith, Timothy Dawud Muhammad, Ishmael Sharees Muhammed.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
