Anita May Erikson

Anita May Erikson, 89, of Covert, and formerly of South Haven, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at her home under Hospice care. She was born September 24, 1925 to Roy and Henrietta (Gunder) Wilkinson in Cassopolis, Michigan. Anita earned her Associates Degree from South Western Michigan College in Dowagiac. She married Rudolph Erikson on August 29, 1981 in South Haven. Anita worked as a real estate agent for Carlson Associates Realty in South Haven. Anita worked with her husband Rudy for 20 years at Quality Shoe Repair on Center Street in South Haven. Anita liked working with ceramics. She was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven where she did volunteer work. Anita also served on the Van Buren County Board for Mental Health.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband of 15 years - Rudolph Erikson, children – Sue Sternaman and Fred Nelson, Gary Nelson, and sister – Erna Nichols.

Anita is survived by her children – Ralph (Margie) Nelson of Ft. Myers, Florida, Evelyn Dominguez of Holland, Michigan, Linda Nelson of Palistine, Illinois, and Karen Flournoy of Decatur, Michigan. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren including her caregivers – granddaughter – Nicole Steward and grandson-in-law – Kelly Steward.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating at the funeral home.
