Thelma's Obituary
Thelma Dortha Cooper, 89, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at her home under Hospice care. She was born June 25, 1925 to Glen and Emily (Gravenmier) Tolley in Black Oak, Arkansas. Thelma married Paul Cooper on April 12, 1941. She enjoyed crafting and working in her garden. She attended the Casco United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Paul Cooper, son – John Cooper, and siblings – Lillie Fry, Jess Haney and Glennie Blanchard.
Thelma is survived by her children – Paul and Lee Cooper of Mosquero, New Mexico, Dan and Virginia Cooper of West Olive, Peter Cooper of New Mexico, Andrew and Regina Cooper of Jackson, Michigan, Martha and Jess Pratt of Stevensville, Priscilla and Richard Meyers of Colorado, Ruth Irwin of Colorado, Faith McGuire of Plainwell, Mary and Victor Arias of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Esther and Terry Kooi of Muskegon; siblings – Loran Haney of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Mary Fisher of Lakeland, Florida, Wilma and Gary Taylor of Lakeland, Florida, and Emily and Ed Watson of Jonesboro, Arkansas. 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Rev. David Meister officiating. Thelma will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township. Contributions may be made in Thelma’s memory to the Casco United Methodist Church, 880 66th Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090 or to any charity of your choice.
