Ronald Joseph Kozlik

July 30th, 1938 - June 22nd, 2015

Ronald's Obituary

On June 22, 2015, Ronald Joseph Kozlik passed on peacefully at home in his favorite recliner.

Ron was born in Chicago on July 30, 1938 to Louis and Tillie Kozlik, Sr. He was raised with his brother Louie and sister Barbara on a blueberry farm where Ronnie began his cherished devotion to animals.

This larger than life man married his love, Marietta D’Amore in 1958. He attended Western Michigan University, operated and owned South Haven Produce Company and worked at Pullman Industries. He also worked as a janitor and bartender to supplement his earnings for the needs of his family.

Ron served on the South Haven City Council and was a member of the Elk’s Club, The American Legion and South Haven Family Moose Center.

“Koz” touched many and knew how to leave a lasting impression. He had a flare for words and invented the word “perscuviously”. He enjoyed gardening, collected medieval objects and eagles, cheered for the White Sox, golfed, fished, and nurtured his fur babies, Rockie and Cody.

Gone before him are his parents, Louis and Tillie Kozlik Sr., Louie and Billie (Gargus) Kozlik, Jr., Great grand-child Faith, niece Paula Key, and dear buddy Jack Warfield.

He leaves behind the recipients of his love and theirs for him, his life partner and beloved wife, Marietta. His adored daughters and son in-laws, Terri and Lynn Dotson, Rhonda and Paul VandenBranden, Donna and Jim Jordan, Vickiy and Steve Wall. His precious grandchildren, Jamie (Andy) Tyler, JD, Quincie, Neil (Brittany), Sandy (Mike), Teryn (Dan), and CiCi and his great-grandchildren, Pierce, Maverick, Jayden, Ryan, Jordan, Hailey and soon to be born Jackson, his favorite little sister Barbara (Bill) Bartlett of Midland, Michigan, nieces Laura and Diana. Also, the “other” women, Joan Hoyt and Alice Warfield. Dear friends Ed and Christy Kozlowsky also survive.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 26th, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Filbrandt’s Family Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Monks Cemetery with a life celebration gathering at South Haven Family Moose Center. In lieu of flowers, Ron asked that the American Legion or South Haven Family Moose Center be gifted in his memory.
