Lillie Evans

Lillie Lee Johnson Evans was affectionately known as Lil. The eldest of ten siblings. Lillie Evans was born in Ethelsville, Alabama on October 23, 1926 to Jessie Johnson and Eliza Jane Neal Johnson. Lillie Evans embraced the acceptance of Christ at an early age and were baptized at Providence Baptist Church in Ethelsville Ala. Lillie united in marriage with Abe Courington where one daughter was born, (Janie Courington). After a relocation to Phoenix, Illinois Lillie was united in marriage to Steve Evans where an union of a family of eight children were formed. Lillie represented her family with a show of leadership and unconditional love. 

  A lawyer for truth and justice, a teacher of compassion, a missionary for Christ, a mother of the church, a member of NAACP and a dear and loving mentor to all who were in contact with her. 
A few of Lil's loves were fishing and gardening.

Lil's final relocating to South Haven, Michigan allowed her to pursue her love for flowers. She became  employed at the DeGrandchamp establishment, later retiring from the workforce. Lillie continued to walk in faith until her transitional walk with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on August 28, 2015. Preceded  in death by both her parents and both her husbands, seven siblings, one daughter Sandra D. Neal four son's Thomas Evans, Bobby W. Evans, Warren Evans and Ricky Evans. She leaves to celebrate her legacy one brother Frank Johnson one sister
Catherine (Rev.Leonard DeVille) DeVille  all of Ill. One son  Edward (Vivian)Evans Sr. of Merrillville,IN, three daughters Janie Vaughn of Detroit, MI, Vanessa Wright of McDonough, GA and Shelly Evans of South Haven, MI. 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and her many loved friends.
