Clarissa's Obituary

She is survived by Al, children Victoria Coe, Priscilla Brandt (Mel - dec), Jessica Thannen (Mark), Jonathan Coe (Susan), and family friend Sherry Sanders; grandchildren Jennifer (Jerome), Sarah, Colin, Martha (Joey), Kaitlyn, Andrew, Claire, A.J. and Daniel; plus 10 greatgrandchildren.

Chris' training as a Registered Nurse was interrupted twice by Tuberculosis (acquired during her internship at Albany Medical College). Once completed, her nursing career spanned many years; from care of maxillofacial surgery patients to caring for developmentally disabled adults. In South Haven she was a familiar figure in several retail shops.

Most recently she sparked a Peace church ministry for mentally challenged male adults (her “Gentlemen Friends”) which encouraged other local churches to open their arms to these frequently shunned men folk.

A remarkable servant of Christ has joined Him in Heaven. To celebrate her arrival a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 12, 3:30 pm; at the Peace Lutheran Evangelical Church; 06321 BlueStar Hwy; South Haven, MI. Contributions may be made in Clarissa’s memory to the Kids' Hope Ministry of Peace Church; any local Habitat for Humanity Program, or South Haven's Diversity Coalition at  ATTN: Karen Riffer-Reinert, South Haven Area Hospice, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090
