Devon William LaMarr Smiley

Devon William LaMarr Smiley, 17, of South Haven went to be with the Lord on November 1st, 2015. Born July 1st, 1998, Devon completed his family perfectly with his bubbly personality and loving nature. He had countless friends for whom he was always available for a hug or hello and genuinely cared for anyone he met. Rich or poor, any color, Devon loved everyone. He was a beacon of light to his whole community, having been known for his infectious smile and laughter. Devon enjoyed playing just about every sport, having participated in track, wrestling, and baseball. But ultimately his biggest joy was football. And yet, Devon was much more than an athlete. He sang in the choir, was on yearbook staff, and was a counselor for the 6th grade camp. He dreamed of being a special education teacher and lived his life to see the joy in others. His heart was huge and he loved deeply.

Devon is survived by his parents, Trevor and Melissa (Missy), brother Trenton and sister Drianna; Grandparents, Fred and Beverly Smiley, Jackie and John Bates, Cecelia and William Bonny; Aunts and uncles, Melissa L. Smiley, Bianca and John Williams, Dawn Bates and Roy Miller; cousins Imari Smiley and Jaidan Williams and countless friends and family. He will be missed immensely

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in South Haven, 10781 76th Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090 with Bishop Darryl Williams officiating. Devon will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township.
