Mary's Obituary

Mary Jane Dillon, 98, of South Haven, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at her home under Hospice care. She was born February 13, 1917 to William and Marie (Vuylsteke) Hearn in Benton Harbor. Mary married James Dillon, Sr. on February 6, 1943 at the St. Gabriel Mission in Riverside, California. Mary attended St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana. Mary and her husband James Sr. lived in Southern California and then moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mary Jane and James enjoyed 25 years in LaQuinta, California. Their final retirement home was in their beloved South Haven. She was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband, James Dillon, Sr. who passed in 2002 and two brothers – John and William Hearn.

Mary is survived by her children – Marie Dillon of South Haven, Johannah (Mark) Dillon-Kolas of South Haven, William Dillon of Maui, Hawaii, and James Joseph (Kelli) Dillon,  Jr. of San Francisco, California; one grandson – Dr. Lal Zimman. Mary is also survived by her canine companion – Sandy.

Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Al-Van Humane Society, 73303 8th Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
