Larry Allen Carlson

Larry Allen Carlson, 57, of South Haven, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born August 1, 1958 to Norman and Lois (Barcal) Carlson in Chicago, Illinois. Larry graduated from Chicago Luther North High School in 1976. He married Janet Otto on September 10, 1985 in South Haven. Larry worked at Lakeside Lanes in South Haven before beginning work as a welder at Taylor Controls in 1993. He was a member of the VFW Post #667, Sons of the American Legion, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Larry loved to golf and work on cars. He loved his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father – Norman Carlson.

Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years – Janet Carlson of South Haven, children – Michael (Jennifer) Strebeck of South Haven, Matthew “Bo” (Carly) Strebeck of Hudsonville, Michigan, and Christyn (Tom) Forrest of Covert, mother – Lois Carlson of Chicago, sister – Nancy (Bob) Valentine of Westchester, Illinois, nine grandchildren – Matthew, Grace, Brody, Memphis, Giana, Everly, Gavin, Wyatt, and Piper, nieces – Katie Valentine of Westchester, Illinois, Jennifer Valentine of Chicago, Illinois, and Laramie Otto of Sarasota, Florida.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to the VFW Post #667, 1070 S. Bailey Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
