Pastor James's Obituary
Pastor James Lee McMath, 70, of Bangor, went home to be with his Lord from his home with his family by his side. He was born August 20, 1945 to Mose and Winnie Roxie (Hall) McMath, Sr., in Indianola, Mississippi. Pastor McMath married Lue Ellen McGowan on November 22, 1967 and shared 48 years of blissful years of marriage. He worked for National Motors for ten years before coming to own and operate South Haven Auto Polish for the next twenty years. Pastor McMath loved motorcycles, fishing, and bowling. He was the founder of The First Spiritual Church of Covert where he served the Lord as pastor for 17 years.
He is preceded in death by a son – Rodney Lewis brothers – Willie Palmer, Jimmy McMath, Larry Palmer,
and Mose McMath, Jr., and sisters—Sannie Lee Page, Emma Lee Glover, and Louise Grace.
Pastor James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lue Ellen McMath of Bangor, children – Willie (Tiffany) Everett of Winona, Mississippi, Cheryl (Keith) Small of Winona, Mississippi, Dorris (Darrine) Forrest of Clarksville,
Tennessee, Carl McMath of Covert, Isaiah (Marie) Lewis of Kalamazoo, Lucy Jean (Sam) Brice of Bangor, Dorothy Lewis of Kalleen, Texas, and Johnnie (Kim) Lewis of South Haven, sister – Rosie (George) Taylor of Covert, brother – Henry (Thelma) McMath of North Chicago, Illinois, sisters-in-law – Wanda Palmer, Gracie Williams, Anita Carr, Mosetta Carr, Beatrice Carr, and Cheryll Carr, and brothers-in-law – Terry Carr and Frank Bowers.
19 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Wake will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert Township. Funeral services will follow the wake at 12:00 PM at the church. Pastor McMath will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery.
