Edward's Obituary
Edward Antony Kusmider, 62, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, at his home under his wife’s Jasia’s loving care. He was born December 29, 1953, to John and Florence (Bochenek) Kusmider in South Haven. Ed spent his life in South Haven and loved the beauty of the city. He enjoyed boating and fishing, especially with his father. He also enjoyed working on the family Christmas Tree farm. Edward worked as a meat cutter for 32 years and loved the people he helped. He married Janina Kot on December 28, 1996, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bangor. They traveled to Rome and St. Louis to follow their beloved St. Pope John Paul II.
Edward’s sense of humor and quick wit kept everyone laughing. He loved his wife and family with his whole heart. Edward will be remembered especially for his kindness, compassion, and his willingness to give to others.
Edward never complained during his illness but always put laughter and love in the hearts of those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence, brothers – Stanley and John Kusmider, and parents-in-law – Anna and Franceszck Kot and Stanley and Thadeus Kot.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his beloved wife – Janina, sisters – Jeanette (Jim) Yurkinas of Okemos, Michigan and Christina (David) Berent of Linden, Michigan, nieces and nephews – Tracie, Tiffany (Bob), Terese (Michael), Thaddeus, Rachel (Jeff), Jon, Margaret and Marius and his many grandnieces and nephews. Also, Cindy, his gentle nurse.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Rosary prayed on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Edward will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to the St. Basil Catholic Church Restore the Glory Building Fund, 513 Monroe Boulevard, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
