Michael Anthony Morris

Michael Anthony Morris, 57, of Covert, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in South Haven. He was born September 28, 1959 to Leroy and Mary Lou (Jackson) Morris in Chicago, Illinois. Michael graduated from Covert High School with the Class of 1977. He later honorably served his country in the United States Army. Michael lived a very simple life. He worked as a welder for L & M Marathon in Covert. He loved to cook soul food and BBQ. He was family oriented and enjoyed going to the movies or having backyard cook outs with the family. He loved working on cars and was an exceptional mechanic.

He is preceded in death by his parents - Leroy and Mary Lou Morris and a brother – Willie Abner.

Michael is survived by his children – Michael, Jr., Anthony L.(Stephanie), Jacob, Anthony, and Kaleb Morris, siblings – Ricky Morris of West Point, Georgia, Alton Morris of St. Joseph, Leroy (Kathy) Jr. Morris of Covert, Sharon (David Ross) Purnell of San Ramon, California and Dorothy Powell of Las Vegas, Nevada. A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends within the Covert community also survive.

Wake will be held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Lily of the Valley Church in Covert. Funeral services will follow the wake at 4:00 PM with Bishop Darryl Williams officiating at the church. Michael will be laid to rest at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
